"The virtue of a camera is not the power it has to transform the photographer into an artist, but the impulse it gives him to keep on looking."

Baby, It's Cold Outside

In honor of the epic blizzard that everyone seems to be talking about this evening...

I took this photo, along with quite a few others, at a family gathering on Christmas Eve '10. One of the cousins in the family is serving in the military, and was only home for a few days over the holidays. When I was chatting with his Mom at our extended family's holiday lunch, we came up with the idea that we could get together and shoot some quick photos on Christmas Eve in the afternoon while their whole family was together - and before her son's visit was over. I wasn't anticipating snow for our afternoon photo shoot, but the nice covered patio out back gave us some shelter while allowing for a beautiful, open view of the trees and the snow covered field behind them. After the group photos were done, Glenda wanted a few more shots with Greg out in the snowfall - so of course, I was snapping away! And, when I asked them to kiss, they happily obliged ;-)
Aren't they cute?

Snow

This snowstorm got me thinking about the beautiful White Christmas we had this past holiday. I only managed to get out and snap one snow photo at Christmas, and this is it. Probably one of my favorite shots so far...
