"The virtue of a camera is not the power it has to transform the photographer into an artist, but the impulse it gives him to keep on looking."
Brooks Atkinson

Sweet Baby Girl

I couldn't believe how awake this little sweetheart was during her session, even though she was only a few days old! But, that's ok, it meant that I was able to capture her beautiful blue eyes in some of her images! She settled down toward the end of the session, though, and we were able to get her set up in the doll bed, which turned out to be completely adorable... isn't she precious?

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice...

...that's what little girls are made of! This little sweetheart was such a good girl for her newborn session! Her mommy had some adorable hats for her to wear, and the dark hardwood of the living room ended up being just perfect with the basket setup! I'm so thrilled with how these came out!

Baby Boy!

In-home baby sessions are so sweet, I love capturing images of a family in their own environment, it just feels so intimate and loving! This baby boy's session was no exception, and it made me tear up more than once as I was editing and seeing that pure joy in his parents' faces. Here's a sampling of my favorites, he's a gorgeous baby!

Simply Sweet

This baby girl has had her appointment on the books since early summer, at the time it seemed like the appointment was forever away, but it was here before we knew it! At 12 days old, she was so alert and strong, I couldn't believe how awake and interactive she was with her parents! Her Mommy was radiant, you would never have guessed that she had just had a baby, and Daddy's eyes were filled with love every time he looked at his two beautiful girls. Thanks for asking me to capture this special time with your family!

The newest cowboy on the range

You may remember the maternity session I posted a few weeks ago with the beautiful goldenrod and excited mommy, daddy, and big sister... well, he's here! We had such a fun time with his photos. Mom suggested that we incorporate some of their riding accessories since they have horses on the property, and I was so happy with our results! Daddy is also an outdoorsman, so we had to incorporate some orange and camouflage, too. Welcome to the world, little cowboy!

Handsome Boy

I was so excited to finally photograph this little newborn boy since his Mommy had contacted me several months ago about doing his pictures! He was so well behaved! You can just see in his parents' faces how loving and attentive they are with him. What a great session!

Sweet Baby

This little girl was probably the best behaved newborn I've seen so far! She barely fussed the entire time, and when she did cry it was because she was hungry! She was such a doll with her whispy blonde curls!

Look at those eyes!

A recent cutie that I photographed.... his eyes are amazing! I also did his newborn photos - and it doesn't seem like it was that long ago - but he's sitting on his own now and acting like such a big boy! We did some photos at the park, and some in his room at home, but my favorite images so far are the ones of him in his St. Louis Cardinals attire, sitting on their front porch swing.

Gorgeous Girl

This little sweetie is the new baby sister of another beautiful little girl that I have been photographing since she was born. I just love doing newborn sessions, and the light from the overcast morning sky pouring in from their patio doors was just perfect! She's such a pretty baby!

Newborn Session

Not long after I did newborn photos for that beautiful little girl with the green tutu, I had the honor of capturing another little newborn's first portraits! He's such a handsome boy! You can see a sense of seriousness in his eyes, it's almost like you can see the little wheels turning in his mind as he's observing the world around him. His big sister loves him, too, and refers to him as, "my baby", how sweet! This is a sampling of the images we got that day, I had a hard time choosing the ones I would put in the blog! After I assembled the collage, I realized that I only had one color image on there, and it happens to be my favorite of all of them :-)
